One thing I particularly liked is that this movie (as does any close reading of American political history, but hey, Americans don't read) completely debunks the idea that there was any golden age of American politics were there was no corruption and back-room dealing.

"The greatest measure in the nineteenth century was passed by corruption, aided and abetted by the purest man in America."

That socialist Obama selected his cabinet based on Lincoln's strategies detailed in Team of Rivals.

Daniel Day Lewis is as they all say. I don't think the movies has ever seen an actor like him before. The only crime is that Joaquin Phoenix's performance in The Master will probably be forgotten this year. Shame.

Greating acting all around. Tim Blake Nelson was the stand out for me. He was fun.

Of course the movie had its routine Spielbergian moments, like John Williams' music swells, that try hard to tug on your heart strings. I could have went without the rushed assassination sequence in the last 10 minutes, but oh well.

the final minutes and the opening scene were my biggest problems with the movie. the rest was solid. i loved Tommy Lee Jones' character. also, he looks a lot like Ron Paul.

Spoiler: show
and what was with the weird bait and switch at the end with the other theater? wtf?

Yeah that theatre fake out was highly unnecessary.
