Flash Forward is a science fiction television series currently in production by ABC Studios for the 2009–2010 television season. It is based on the novel Flashforward by Canadian science fiction writer Robert J. Sawyer. With the end of Lost in 2010, ABC studios hopes it will be a companion series to the show during its 6th and final season. The show will star Joseph Fiennes, Sonya Walger, John Cho, Christine Woods, Jack Davenport and Courtney B. Vance. Seth MacFarlane will also guest star on the series. The pilot episode was written by David Goyer and Brannon Braga. In May 2009, ABC picked up Flash Forward for thirteen episodes. In the United States, these episodes will begin airing on Thursdays in fall of 2009.

The previews don't look so good. Another "Lost" clone.
another? is there a lost clone already?
"Lost" spawned a number of serial sci fi type dramas, but most were canceled after a few epis. "Heroes" is still around. ABC had that show w/ the Life of Mars chick that was canceled. NBC had that ocean centric show with that wierd creature...there's more

FlashForward is the kind of big-budget, big-ambition thriller that's supposed to be out of date, but the show is so ingeniously structured that it more than holds up to the standard of Lost and Heroes. Joseph Fiennes plays Mark Benford, an LA FBI agent who's right in the middle of a high-speed car chase when he blacks out. So does everybody else on Earth, for precisely two minutes and 17 seconds. During the time lapse, everyone catches a glimpse of their lives exactly six months into the future: April 29th, 2010. Benford has a vision of gun-wielding assailants; his wife sees herself having an affair; his buddy sees his dead daughter alive again. The blackout scene is genuinely scary, as planes crash, the Eiffel Tower catches fire and Benford's little girl offers a Poltergeist-style utterance: "I had a bad dream. I dreamt there were no more good days." Is everybody's vision of the future a done deal? Or do they have the power to change it? As Benford races to solve the mystery, FlashForward has more than enough dramatic juice to live up to its megaclever premise.
Alright, I'll bite.

pilot was meh. i didn't connect to any of the characters, and i thought any "tension" was overwrought, contrived, and inorganic. but i dig the concept of the show enough to give it a few more episodes.

I actually liked the pilot but I feel like the show needs to speed up; think the pilot was a little deliberate so that everyone could get on board for the ride. there are lots of stoooopid peeps in the world.

pilot was alright, good cliffhanger. i do worry about the longevity of the series. how long are they going to be able to keep this plot point up before it becomes stale? i want to wait til next week to see how the pace and feel of the show is in each episode. i've heard that they are planning to air a show on that 2010 date so that might help to keep the pace fast during the first season, but what happens after they come to that 2010 date?
