Saw this today. This was actually very well done and quite entertaining.

There's a discussion on this movie going on at the "What Movies Are You Watching" thread. Well, it's like 3 posts.

But it's good that you gave it its own thread. I think it deserves it.

The entire road crossing sequence was really beautiful. Totally unexpected.

Yeah, that was one of my favorite scenes. And what happened right after that.

The look of this and ILM's animation (their first animated movie) is INCREDIBLE. I just wish the story and characters had more to them outside of other-movie-references and surface humor. It's a gorgeous movie, though.

I'd already really wanted to see this movie, but then just found out a couple days ago when seeing this video, Verbinski didn't record the voices in the traditional way for animation of having actors in booth at separate times. Much like Zemekis when doing his motion capture would have all the actors basically act out the movie on stage, Verbinski did kind of the same thing just for the voices. Honestly I'd love to see that version as well

The visuals were amazing, the amount of the detail, such as wrinkles in the "rat people" made them look extremely real.

The movie is fun, has some pace issues here and there, but I recommend.

Glad you liked it. I'm going to watch it again soon. As the great donnawhite once said; "must deserves an academy award".

Saw this last weekend and it was amazing. The story wasn't the best and maybe a little trimming could have helped with that but for the most part it was a great movie to watch. I especially liked how similar the animals were to their voices. It wasn't a "celebrity voice here, ho ho!" kind of movie, in other words. The little things here and there - Fear & Loathing cameo, for example - made it awesome. I laughed at it and my wife asked, "should I know what that was about?"

I had a lot of fun with this, and like many of you said the animation was excellent.

I'll watch anything with Harry Dean Stanton's voice.
