Great director. Last thing I saw from him was The Pawnbroker a few months ago and it was excellent. He will be sorely missed.

Lumet is one of the best examples of a great director that never really fit into the 'auteur theory.' Robert Wise is another that immediately comes to mind. RIP to him.

Deathtrap, 12 Angry Men, Dog Day Afternoon, Equus, Long Day's Journey Into Night, The Hill, The Anderson Tapes, The Verdict, Network, The Offence, Murder On The Orient Express - all classics in my opinion.
