RM's Top Movies is a countdown of the greatest movies of all time, according to us.
Permitted movies -at least 60 minutes long -where it first played does not matter. This is not the Oscars. I don't care if it was a TV-movie, a theatrical release, even a TV mini-series if you like. -TV episodes and TV shows are not allowed. -Any genre, including documentary or experimental film.
Have fun

Will they be ranked in how their scored? Meaning will my number 1 carry more weight for the overall list than my number 10?
No I think the ranking will come from how many RMers have that movie at the same spot. Law of Averages.
It's like what is done in Other Bands at the end of the Year record threads.
I'm not sure what you mean Rick. I thought a good way to do it was to have the #1 rank of each list get 10 points, the #2 rank get nine points, etc. down to the #10 rank on each list getting one point. Do we think this or the law of averages is a better way to determine rank?

Depending on how many submit I guess law of averages would work better for a larger sample size. But seeing as A&E doesn't have the traffic as OB does I think the #1 10 points, #2 9points, ... #10 1point. would work better.
All I was thinking is if you were going to spreadsheet all the entries and then if a movie shows up on the majority of peoples lists then this would show that that movie is popular amongst the RM crowd.
But like I said, I don't see A&E as popular with RMers as OB is so you should just go with the predetermined ranking points system.

It might be better to use a 20 point system, similar to the OB one, or some other number of points. ie number 1 gets 20 pts, number 10 gets 11, with a 20 point system. That way two number 10s outweigh one number one, instead of 10 number 1s being needed. If you want number 1 to be a little more important, you could do 15 point max, or less important, you could do 50 point max, etc.

The OB lists use a point system.
From the latest one:
Quote:
3. Scoring is based on a 35 point system (35 pts for your #1, 34 pts for your #2, 11 pts for your #25 and so on).
Yeah I'm stupid, when I made the post I had then looked at the latest one in OB, thanks for calling me out though.
Goes back to sit in the corner, carry on with this thread though, it shall be fun to see what movies I've seen from the RM Top Movie thread and which ones I need to see.

That's a really good idea. I'll edit the first post to include this.
