Me and my friends have been watching this show on HBO on demand for a couple of weeks (we finished episode 9 last night) and it is excellent. One of the best series' I've seen since Band of brothers.
Anybody else watch this show?

Yeah Deadwood is awesome, just behind Sopranos IMO. I really can't wait for the new Pacific version of Band of Brothers. Does anyone have an ETA on that?

what's the Pacific version? Is it a new series like Band of Brothers?
Yeah it is another 10 part mini series being done by Spielberg and Hanks, and will follow a group through the war in the pacific.
"At a running time of 13 hours, the new Tom Hank's and Steven Spielberg telling of the war in the Pacific, can't possibly cover every campaign or tell every service's contribution, says one of the writers for the upcoming HBO mini-series.
According to the writer, he plans to follow the interweaving stories of five men throughout the war who are members of a USO troupe (think, Bob Hope). He explained that even with the millions of men fighting all over the Pacific Theater, there were countless incidents of men's paths crossing even though they were in different branches of the military.
Unlike the original Band of Brothers, we will also see plenty of action on the home front. This was the last war our country fought when everyone sacrificed, whether in combat, working in defense plants, growing crops or sending their sons, husbands, fathers, and uncles off to fight.
None of the characters will be “based on” or “composites” the writer says. They are real, identifiable people, he says. As they did with Band of Brothers, we will see some of these men as they are today, describing what it was like fighting in the Pacific Campaign. With more than 1,000 World War II vets dying each month, many of those who fought and lived will likely not see the series. Some whose stories are told may pass before it is completed. The writers say it will be hard to match the emotional intensity of Band of Brothers, “but we're going to try,” he says. "
if you cocksuckers would check hbo's cocksucking webpage, you would see that the new cocksucking season begins on march 6th.
speaking of, this was on the onion the other day:
cocksucker beats up motherfucker
gainesville, fl - in an ass-kicking on the sidewalk in front of the red room on juniper avenue saturday, some 23-year-old cocksucker totally wasted this motherfucker, 22, like the prick was standing still. "you want a piece of me?" asked the motherfucker, who minutes later got his goddamn ass handed to him on a plate. according to some dudes who was the whole thing, the motherfucker kissed the fucking pavement after the cocksucker delivered a bad-ass left hook. the motherfucker was unavailable to comment, because he was buys picking his teeth up off the ground.

Deadwood's a good show. Not the typical western goody goody cowboy saves the day kind of thing. It's done wonders for the town, making it a big tourist spot again.
And new Band of Brothers? Awesome. I don't mean to derail the thread, but is it based on a book, like Stephen Ambrose's or did the writers do some hardcore research? I enjoyed the book and was wondering if it was the same deal.
doesn't look like many r.m.ers watch the show, but i thought i'd bump this topic up the board after tonight's season 2 premiere. i really enjoyed it. i think this season has great potential. when charlie udder and bullock's partner (the jewish guy whose name escapes me) both got shot, i actually sat up and said, holy shit. turns out it wasn't a huge deal, but after they killed off wild bill in episode 4, i've decided there is no sure thing in this show. i guess that's what i like best about it. did anyone else catch it?
as a side note, the clumps of pit hair under mrs. garret's arms made me feel like all of those western porns have been a huge lie.

fuck yes! yes yes yes fucking yes. love your fucking avatar too. noticed it a few days ago but didn't find a place to put it til now. fucking Deadwood is the best show, in my opinion, that i've seen in a long time. i mean, i really liked 24 when it came out, but for some reason it drifted off some from me during season 2. Back to deadwood. David Milch (creator) is awesome. i've never laughed so much and been intrigued by somethign intellectual from a tv show so far. it's got a great cast, too. that guy from the old Newhart plays a hilarious character. swerengen (ala your av) is probably the most interesting character besides Bullock (ala the main). i bought season 1 on dvd a few weeks back. now i'm pushing it onto my friends who might be interested, and have heard nothing but good in response from them.

I don't have HBO, however, the commercials look great. Would a comparison to Gangs of New York be an appropriate one? I liked the movie and maybe I'd like this series. I'll have to look into buying the DVDs.

Good start to the season. Man, Swearangen seems to have gained some poundage, eh? I think he's going to have a rough year.
I can't believe the cocksucker didn't stab Bullock.
that cocksucking kid "unmanned" him. i couldn't believe that shit. anyone else excited for the return of calamity jane? i love that she had one word of dialogue in the first episode of the new season: cocksucker, of course

Somewhat, yes, I would say so. The big difference would be it's in the middle of Bumfuck, Nowhere instead of the big city.
in a sense yes, because of the time and both aren't portrayed with a lot of hollywood polish. but deadwood focuses on all different kinds of ppl in a same spot, trying to co-exist while making a living, while in Gangs of NewYork, they kinda just wanted each others territory.
man, tonight's episode went absolutely nowhere. i still enjoyed the shit out of it though. swearingen's character got even more interesting now that he's had his ass kicked.
