Roman Holiday

Unlike all the moments had between the sunrise and the reds, oranges, and purples of a sunset
A glimpse of something new and unadorned by memory
The folds of blankets clean but still soiled
And the warmth conveyed but the bright burn of a furnace
The candles flicker and the rays remain so undulating
Faced with another Monday morning
The presence of the memory remains
Vacations linger on and the enjoyment fades
The pain and the horror of feeling desperate and alone
Can anyone encourage someone to save us?
But we press on and we find that this land truly is ours for the taking
Just as Caesar led Rome in greatness
But before the fall comes, let's seize the day
And find ourselves in the most blessed Roman holiday.
