Well Sorkin certainly likes exploring the same general theme of going behind the scenes of something whose surface the public is familiar with, first an ESPN-like show, then politics, then sketch comedy and now a CNN-like network. I've been following this for a long time now, and HBO has made the official greenlight for Sorkin's new series, speculation I've heard is about 10 episodes for the first season, which will start filming soon (if not already). And the first time he'll have a series on a cable network. It was originally titled More As The Story Develops, but apparently that's been ditched. Several months ago Sorkin shadowed Keith Olbermann over at MSNBC for research on this. Interesting cast they've got going so far.

Jeff Daniels
Emily Mortimer
Sam Waterston
Olivia Munn
Alison Pill
Dev Patel

I guess I'm a little surprised to see Tommy Schlamme isn't directing the pilot, Greg Mottola is. In fact as far as I can tell, Schlamme's not involved at all, even as an EP. But I'm a huge Sorkin fan and welcome any chance for him to return to TV.

Thing is, as much as I did like Studio 60 overall, I think especially in the second half of the run it did go a little too far in Sorkin using the scripts as a soapbox for his very liberal views (this seems to be one of the main criticisms I'd always hear) and obviously the network being portrayed will certainly be more on the side of CNN then something like Fox News, I just hope the same problem doesn't occur.
