Absolutely wonderful movie. Glen hansard is great in it, love watching him perofrm solo on the streets, in the studio was great, and i have a total crusho n that girl. her accent kills me.
Highly suggest picking up the soundtrack, and if youre not a fan of the frames then....youre an idiot?

This only just opened here in Australia. I hadn't been paying too much attention to Hansard's work, really. Knew of him and the Frames for a long time, through Damien Rice and the posts on OB, but interest level was never too high until he opened for Bob Dylan here last week. I read a review of this, and just had to see it.
Wow. REALLY liked what I saw. Yeah, the handheld camera work is shoddy and I just don't buy the style, low budget indie or not, but the performances were just so natural. Markéta Irglová... reminds me of the first time I heard Lisa Hannigan. Sooooooo yummy.
Just as well there's a record store right next to the cinema. Picked up The Cost right away. They didn't have the soundtrack yet. GAH!

Hinny, you're great, but if i ever hear you ever say damien *cunt!* rice in the same sentence as the frames or glen ever again? i'll have to come to australia and slap you silly with a frames cd! they gave him an audience here & we all kinda hate him 'cos he's a nasty whine bag little shit. who doesn't rock...ever!
Didja get to see the frames then? they're my favourite band ever. If they and Pj were playing the same night in the same town and i had tickets for both? I'd go see the frames. if only they'd open for Pj..that's a wet dream of mine...
But really? the cost isnt their best work at all..honestly? get yourself Setlist (its their live record and it fuckin ROCKS!), Dance the Devil and For the Birds.. they're the big 3 when it comes to the frames...the cost is...its good but i've no love for it except people all get ready... really the only way to get the frames is to see them live.. my favourite live band ever, even beatin pj. Also Glen & Marketa were on Letterman last night.. rant over..

I should be getting this in the mail through Netflix today. Very excited for it, as I've only heard good things.
Im told the american version is very different from the european one (they completely photoshopped the US version..its almost a different photo)
but if your into it, the US soundtrack has a bonus dvd with it thats full of extras that are better than any of the extras on the euro or american dvds. If your into it...hope you will be. (im in the party scene in the kitchen! )

That was truly great, and got better every time I watched it. It was good the first time around when I watched it last night. I didn't have much to do today so I watched it with the commentary track this morning, which was interesting. I just re-watched the movie regularly and it was even better this time around. I love how the film ends.
A woman who lost her Husband to cancer got in touch with the Once people, she wanted to give Glen one of her husbands guitars as a thank you for the film.
the clip is from the today show. And that's just one thats made the news, there's amazing stuff like this goin on thats not being covered by media..people are so cool sometimes.

The soundtrack has a beautiful 'after the movie' film on a free dvd with the cd soundtrack...give it a go...made me love living in Dublin again & it's actually better than the film in many ways....the film's so awesome though....
so glad you liked it...wake up America...it's great, give it your best shot

i really liked the film. i think at times i got a little bored during some of the songs but its only because it was late at night.
Id agree..'girls' songs drag a bit for me, but otherwise it's good...there's one song in it back to back, (think its 'when your minds made up') and theyre on the beach? that's unneccessary but otherwise it wins..
