Anyone watch this show? Patton Oswalt tweeted about it and Amazon has it for free for Prime customers. I've seen two episodes and am hooked. Good stuff. Really recommend it.
It's about an early 20th century family who is royalty/rich and has 20+ servants. The show is as much about the servants as it is about the family. It airs on PBS.

if you watched tonight on PBS than that was the 1st episode of season 2. so stop and watch season 1 first. then steal season 2 from bit torrent cause it's already aired in the UK.

When the new season premiered, I was at my grandma's house overnight. She hadn't watched the first season but had been looking forward to this premier for a while on the strength of her friends' recommendation along with a write-up in the paper. I'd never heard of it.
As we were watching I really started to enjoy it, but she turned it off after ten minutes and crabbily griped that she couldn't understand the accents. Really surprised me. She normally loves British things and really likes PBS. She's getting very hard of hearing, though.

I can only imagine the nights spent in roaring laughter while you watched Are You Being Served? with the grandma.
I like how the plot line mirrors our real-world economic crisis. I expected a big, nasty plot twist at the wedding, but was actually pleasantly surprised at a happy ending. I was a little worried about Shirley MacLaine, but she held her own and the interaction between her and Maggie Smith is awesome.

watched the first season. its really good, but i'm not sure why i'm supposed to care so much about the oldest daughter (since so much time is devoted to her). she's a loathsome spoiled cunt with no redeeming qualities. Hopefully future seasons will give me a reason to care about her or else focus on the rest of the characters more.
