There is a segment about Bit Torrent on CNBC today. They showed it about 10 minutes ago, I'm sure it will be shown several other times throughout the day in case you want to check it out.

They made it sound like Bit Torrent and it's creator Cohen (?) are the devil. I really love the program and hate to hear it bashed by people who know little about it.

Bit Torrents don't distribute pirated movies, pirates distribute pirated movies (to paraphrase the NRA).

It's too bad that BT is under scrutiny. Personally I use it mostly for concerts, PJ stuff which is legal to DL, and TV shows (Galatica, Scrubs and 24). I understand that the sponsors would be upset that people aren't watching their commercials, but when I TiVo the stuff I don't watch the commercials there either. Regardless, this is not going to go away. They thought when they shut down Napster that they had rid the world of this evil, but people still download mp3s all the time, movies, etc.

That's too bad, now a bunch of idiots are gonna go around touting the evils of BitTorrent. Brian wrote an awesome program that has tons of legitimate/legal uses. It's too bad that it will be tainted in the public eye. By people that in all likelyhood have no idea what they are talking about.

As long as there is an internet, there will be internet piracy. The crooks are always smarter than the cops.

BitTorrent is great. Why don't they just drop the "intellectual property" crap already and actually make a product worth buying? Having they ever taken a business class before?

Yeah, Bittorent is not what they should be after, its the illegal sites that should be getting all the bad press, bittorent itself is great. I download stuff like a mad man but I would rather see the illegal music and movie sites go down before they get rid of bittorent all together.
