That's pretty cool. I've never played around with RAW because my card is only 128MB and those file are monstrous. But it's good to know what i can do.

My camera has a feature that would allow me to line it up properly using the screen, but I have to buy a special memory card that costs like $50. Pfft!

While I'm at it, here's one I tried to take of the Inner Harbor in Baltimore from Federal Hill.

i usually cheat for panoramic photos...you take a digital camera with high megapixels and just crop it to make it look panoramic...

otherwise...i think you guys have some cool pictures here

Read my comments btw the pictures. My camera is able to take panoramic picture, but I have to buy a special $50 Olympus-is-the-only-company-that-makes-it memory card.

Microsoft Digital Image is pretty good at creating panoramic pictures, but it doesn't always recognize the overlap in pictures (ie Ohio Stadium and my mountain view). I was, however, able to go back and redo this shot of Baltimore's Inner Habor. You can see how the two pictures were different colors, but overall ... not bad.

RAW: Even I really don't know what RAW "is", but I know it takes amazing pictures. I have very few RAW shots, but if I were to take some of my best Djibouti pictures and said, "three of these are RAW, 10 are not, guess what ones are RAW." You'd all be able to pick them out of a lineup. The sharpness, and the clarity are much better than a straight jpeg. The biggest thing that I notice from RAW pictures though, is the quality of color. Everything just...comes more to life with RAW. The greens are greener, the sky is more vivid. Here in Djibouti it really brings out the colors in the women's and girls dresses and head scarves.

As mentioned though, these take up a LOT of space. My RAW shots run between 6 and 7 megs. That doesn't leave a whole lot of shots on my 256 and 512 memory cards.

Where I really get into trouble, is rendering the pictures. I filled those cards on a recent mission to Tadjoura. The 768K of data, has quickly blossomed to over 2.5 gigs. You have your RAW files. You then double that space by converting to lossless TIF files, and then add in edits, and crops... I'm really glad I just invested in a 300 gig harddrive for the rest of my stay here in Djibouti. It's a pain, it's dedious, but the images and what you can do with them are well worth it. I'll be posting some new pics eventually and outline some examples.

I took this at my friend's hunting camp this weekend. It's six pictures stitched together, but i couldn't get it lined up perfectly without a ton of photoshopping, so if you zoom in close enough on the hi res you can tell, though maybe not on this low res version.
