Over the past year (when I've had time), I've been working on a demo of original songs that I've written, and local musician (who has his own home studio) has been helping me record and produce them. About halfway through, I realized that my voice, to put it lightly, sucks, so a girl who I've known since high school (and who has a terriffic voice, imo) has been handling all of the lead vocals since then. We are almost done with the vocal work, and by mid-November the demo should be finished. Once it's done, I'll be launching a relatively large promotional campaign for the demo, and I'll start sending it to local radio stations, managers, talent agencies, and labels who except demo tapes.

However, once the demo's finished, I will be posting it here as well so I can get some feedback as to what you guys think of my songs. In the meantime, here's an instrumental version of the latest (and last) song we're working on, "Book of Truth." We're recording the vocals for it this Saturday, but right now we have a lead guitar playing the vocal melody. Here's the link: http://s21.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0PONTVMHHKML20PYMI0INVY8CK

Enjoy, and let me know what you think!

Your gib...its cut...I like it.

Like the bridgy-type part, liked the atmosphere, but to be honest, really didn't like the lead over the verses, if this girl singing for you is a shit-hot singer though, there should be no problems.

A moody little rock number. It will be interesting to hear the vox.

OK, here's the latest version with vocals added and a new mix:

http://s23.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2XRFAGJMTCZVN12LPTYNMTHZGX

Lyrics:

Engulfed in emotions,
Swirling 'round like a hurricane inside.
An endless commotion,
Pain abounds, sending shockwaves through the spine.
Alone in an oceans
With thunderclouds pouring rain.

Read the book of truth
Tear a page.
Rip the flesh open,
Blood spills down swollen veins.
Close your eyes,
Shed a tear,
And pray to God that it heals.

A secret confession
To a friend on a shelf gathering dust.
An old lost obsession
Engraved in pain, the story of your lust.
A treasured possession
Of revenge for betrayal.

Read the book of truth
Tear a page.
Rip the flesh open,
Blood spills down swollen veins.
Close your eyes,
Shed a tear,
I pray to God, "let it heal."

Let me know what ya think!

Not a big fan of those lyrics; when you write, try to say what you're saying in a way no-one else would- that's what makes a song original. Like I said before, big fan of the atmosphere in this track- I would suggest bringing in slightly more obscure wordplay to better complement the feel of the track and try it again. It'll be worth the effort.
