Charlotte Amalie, the capitol city of the USVI. Viewed from the north looking south. It was pretty cloudy that day, so the colors aren't that great.
A huge part of Charlotte Amalie looks like this. Narrow cobblestone paths and streets and tons of shops.
A view from somewhere in the middle of St Thomas, looking east. The islands are incredibly rugged.
Local wildlife
SAILING!
Sunset view from our deck on St John. The big island in the middle is St Thomas, others are various small uninhabited islands.
Awesome schooner off Virgin Gorda in the British VI.
Artsy!
Nature's Nook. There were places like this in the towns and villages. It's basically a small grocery that's open walled. You can get fruits and veggies there mostly, but the real reason they are there is to sell beverages. Beer, mixed drinks, smoothies, etc. Lots of it, real cheap, any time of day. These places were usually fairly crowded, even at 8am
The sugar mill at Reef Bay. The Virgin Islands had a bustling sugar economy until the beet production on the mainland US took off. This was a 3 mile hike to reach.
Water at Maho Bay, St John
Maho again
One last one.
The beaches in St John are among the most pristine in the world, we had this one to ourselves for a good hour.
Me at Magen's Bay.
Dinosaurs!
More art.
View from our condo during the day.
Incredible snorkeling. We saw barracuda, dolphins, squid, octopi, turtles, sting rays, and more coral and fish than we can possibly remember.
Cooper Island, population 13.
We stopped at a bar there for lunch one day while island-hopping.
The water was so clear you could just walk out and look down to observe the fish.
Preferred method of transport in the VI.
A booby!
The Baths at Virgin Gorda. The Baths are huge deposits of volcanic rock, covering something like 43 square miles. These rocks were up to 60' high and 200' long, solid batholithic granite. It's breathtaking. We climbed on them, spelunked between them, dove under them. Amazing. The rock in the middle we jumped from About a 10' drop.
The end.

I love the Virgin Islands. I've never been to the USVI's but the BVI's are amazing. I can't wait to get back there in March for 10 days sailing!!
St John is all you need, skip St Thomas and St Croix unless you have a real hard on for hustle and bustle or shopping
That's what I've heard. I'll keep the shopping thing on the down low so the wife doesn't get any ideas and we can stick to the plan of drinking rum and staying in the islands where "mon come soon" and there's no hury for anything.

There's enough in St John to keep you busy for maybe half of a day, the shops there are very nice. When I go back to the VI, that'll be my homeport for certain

If Soundgarden is perfectly fine with playing together with Tad Doyle on vocals, why the fuck is he wasting his life promoting the single worst album of all time? Holy shit, he has to be the stupidest motherfucker on earth.

The thing is, they're SO disappointing after being there. IT's like taking a picture of the Grand Canyon, there's just no way to represent how fucking spectacular it was in 2D.
