This requires a little explanation. On Shikoku (one of the islands that make up Japan) theres a pilgramage through 88 temples - traditionally people would don up in the costume that this dude is wearing and walk around the island visiting all 88 temples in the quest to find enlightenment. Traditionally they leave everything behind and even beg for money to pay for their trip and to donate to the temples. Now-a-days people still walk it, some cheat a little and catch some trains, some ride, they're are even buses you can take around.

yep. unfortunately, this thread is not much like when a firehouse burns down or when the audience knows something a character doesn't know.

Then think outside the box. That's the purpose of every prompt - it's only going to exist for a week. It can't be that bad.
As for me, I'll be keeping my eyes open for something ironic.

LittleWing - I like the concept of your irony in the photo. The only problem is that it's rather subtle, and if you hadnt mentioned it in your post, I woudnt have had any idea. The shot itself though, is a great shot. It's interesting, even without knowing the irony.
freeman - There is nothing really wrong with the shot itself, but it is completely impossible to understand without your long explination. I find that a bit of a failing for the concept of the prompt. I know sometimes a little one liner or tidbit can add to someone seeing the shot, but when you need a paragraph to explain it, I think it kinda misses the point.
YouAre GivenToFly - I like it, and it works for the prompt too. I like the hand written part on the sign. heh.
stuzzo - The irony is obvious on the shirt, but I dont really find the shot otherwise very interesting.
I wish - Your shot made me giggle. It looks pretty silly. I like it. There is a lot going on in the picture and it's very interesting. My one criticism is with the sunlight. For some types of shots, it's interesting to have the sun in the camera or making some kind of flare effect, but I dont think it does any good for your shot, and would have been better with the sun out of the picture or behind you. Perhaps, it would have worked better in B&W?
#42 - It works for the prompt, but I think for critical critique I might have tried using a filter to reduce the glare on the window. Or if you dont have a camera that can use filters, taking the shot from another angle so it's not as prominent.

Thanks, thats fair - it was the best thing I had though.
