you guys can play... kinda reminds me of silverchair. my response would be craft wise it sounds really good... everything's spot on. The one criticism I would have about this song is that i don't feel like i got a message from it. I heard the lyrics, but i didn't really know you as a person any better from listening. i feel like that's the hardest part of songwriting making your personality resonate in the audience, but its also the part that separates the best from the rest

haha, its always my lyrics that get picked on! ;)

which song did you listen to? theres 3.

im not of the belief that there needs to be a message as such, its more of a mental picture of experiences and thoughts, for example tbd is based on my experience visiting auschwits, but its not a story, its more like a couple of scenes or pictures.

and youre only allowed to know me as a person if youre my friend! :), I dont think that is what you should be getting from a song.

tpd, now i'm listening to blockhead, which is pretty sweet

that's fair a lot of artists have lyrics which guard the meaning of songs, like beck. but you also get his character.

i think you should try and relate your character through your music... think of all the great artists you know, and try to not think of who they are (or who they make you think they are) like jim morrison, elliott smith, eddie vedder, bob dylan... you know when they are pissed, frustrated, depressed, happy, in control, out of control.

if the song is about your visit to a concentration camp, you either had a strong reaction to it, or what if it was the opposite and you didn't feel a thing. the latter would make for a really good song because you went to this place of absolute destruction of human life, and barely reacted. what would that say about you. you know what i mean? its revealing, but the best artists say what most people can't because they are afraid to or don't know how to. people then listen because they don't have to say it, they can just listen

that's my two cents

it all boils down to what some guy working at a guitar store who was a lot better than me said, "skill has nothing to do with it, its what you have to say"

i know what youre saying and i dont dissagree.

on the flip side music is still a sonic thing, theres alot of artists who can write great lyrics but the music is boring as shit, and of the thats shit then theres no chance.
