I just sat down and wrote these lyrics to an instrumental I had recorded a little while ago. I'm not sure if this feels finished or not, so let me know what you think:

"Slivers of Blue"

Tell me now, darlin'
What's it say in that book
Bout when the world puts its keys
In the hands of a crook

When the sheep in wolf's clothing
Sips the finest of wine
While we scavenge like vultures
Or starve waiting in line

Does it tell me to swallow
This lump in my throat
Shall we forge up the river
Or is it wiser to float

When they take from us everything
That could ever be took
Tell me, my darlin'
What's it say in the book

Tell me, what will they do
When their thrones start to rust
When the bones of their servants
Turn to pillars of dust

When the food that they hoarded
Starts beginning to rot
When the strings of their puppets
Get tangled in knots

When His eyes set upon them
Will they run? Will they hide?
Will they find any refuge
In their towers of pride

Looking up at the sky
They'll see only slivers of blue
Tell me, my darling
What will they do?

I waited all day
you waited all day
but you left before sunset
and I just wanted to tell you
that the moment was beautiful
just wanted to dance to bad music
drive bad cars
watch bad tv
should have stayed for the sunset
if not for me
