You can see it when she smiles: First her lips pull back, Her eyes spring wide open, glistening With dew freshly stolen from morning greens. Then Apollo strikes a match between her ears And the light fights to escape Until her face radiates.
And all I am, all I could ever hope to be is the man to whom she says: "Come and warm your hands at my fire"
Her face melts everything away-- all my doubts and insecurities-- and I'm left with just it. I strip away all the layers of life to find the most basic expression. You can see it when she smiles And when her perfect painting reflects in my eyes I'm closer to love than the word itself.
