because of the season and the blown-out sky, my initial instinct is to say that color is not doing much to improve the picture so b&w is probably the better one. However, the more I look at it, the more it really looks like two different pictures. They each evoke different feelings. So I guess it depends on what look you're going for.

Did you notice the man is blind? I think that makes it more significant depending on if it's colour or b-w.

I'm not sure what works best: colour or black and white.

I'm gonna throw my hat in for the color shot. The b&w is nice, but you lose a lot of that great colour contrast in the hedges. Without that the perspective gets skewed. Also, i like the somewhat muted look of the color shot. Also, the B&W shot looks kinda like a black metal album cover.

I'd say b&w. Probably because, overall, I'm a bigger fan of b&w shots, and also a little because the picture is so serene in b&w, don't know how to say it.

i think if were just scenery then definitely black and white. the subjects dont work well in b&w because the man is wearing
modern clothes and were accustomed to black and white as ageless. because once u remove the people that picture could have
been taken 80 years ago. that is what i like in b&w pictures.

I like the scenery here but I think it would look even cooler if you could set the camera on ground level. Of couse, if you're using a tripod this might not be feaseable but maybe you could rest it on something flat and stable.

The middle two are really quite good. I particularly like the third one. I may have done what I could to tighten the F stop more if I could, just to get a tad more difference in the focus between the three layers of sandbags. Nice stuff.

With the F stop you mean aperture, right? I like that idea!
Thanks for the critique ;)

I bought a Canon Rebel XSi recently, and got it in the mail yesterday. It's really fun to play with. These are a few of the first pictures that I've taken using it, all in the yard or just in the house. What do you think?

I like the first two best. They are pretty much perfectly framed in for tight fields of view. The XSI seems to have come a long way since I bought mine three years ago.

I took a weekend trip to the Outer Banks and it basically sucked. First of all, the drive was longer than I thought (6.5 hours) and it was cloudy and windy the whole time. We didn't have decent weather until Sunday, when I had to leleave. Anyway, most pictures came out like crap but photoshop was able to save a few.
It doesn't look it, but this is actually a HDR done in Photomatix. I wanted to keep it as realistic looking as possible.

This is in Duck. I wanted to get the sunset over the sound but it was too cloudy. So I took this shot and used the Orton Effect on it.

Are you ready to upgrade your rating of Release from 0/10 to a positive integer?
