Very nice c_b!
I don't think I've ever heard of a Thursday night wedding...not that there's anything wrong with that. :haha:

I entered some pics from my orchid conservatory trip in their (Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden) "ShutterBug Contest".

There were/are 7 categories, I entered a photo in each. You have to mail in 8x10 hard copies.

"People" (I have no idea who they are and they have no idea I took their picture)

"Plants"

"Water"

"Architecture"

damn, doesn't look like I can hot link to Snapfish.

I also submitted a closeup of the monarch chyrsallis ("Wildlife") and a red orchid.

Here's a couple of pictures from work on a foggy morning.

a deer across the street from me this weekend. By the way, I live in a city. Behind my house is a Burger King and behind that, a highway. The wolf population has been decimated in the area and now deer are everywhere.

Thanks guys.
I'm glad they came out well because, with the wind chill, it was -10 that morning.

very nice.
Are you using photomatix.
Is that bottom one with some sort of distorted lens, or does it actually look like that?

Post subject:  Re: Dscans' D40 Pics

I explained it a few pages back. But I think I said to keep the shutter speed the same and change the aperture, but it should be the other way around.
Set up your shot, shoot in manual mode. You're basically just overexposing and underexposing the same shot several times by changing the shutter speed. Use the metering mode in your camera as a guide.
With the D60, you may have an auto-bracketing mode which will automatically take several shots, rapid fire, like this for you.
Try to choose a scene that has a lot of contrast in light.
Then you need a program to load all the pictures into. Photmatix has a free version that puts watermarks on the finished product, I just photoshop them out.

Not using photomatix, for HDR's I render them myself by stacking the bracketed shots in Photoshop and then using masks and adjustment layers to achieve the dynamic range I want.
I used a Canon wide angle 10-20mm for both shots, but was standing far enough away that these shots are actually not distorted and looked like that originally :)
