On a sanctuary of ailing feet and aching brains,
Bathed in flat screen glow,
My eyes stare,
Transfixed with car crash curiosity
At the digital portraits flashing before me.
Slipping into unconsciousness,
Faces blur, places fade,
Drifting into 20/20 vision
In 60 Minutes flat…

An alley of broken hearts I roam,
A needle-mark roadmap and busted compass
Guiding me through this wasteland
Where rotten teeth converse with God,
Cats have no shelter and souls are corrupt.
The picture perfect family
Was abandoned at the railroad tracks
Where innocence died.
The gates of hell were howling,
And society answered the call.
Now once-golden streets have birthed cocaine heartbeats,
Methamphetamine demons,
Pipe bomb pleasures and mafia madness.

Bullets have no names,
They see no faces, know no allies.
They dig flesh graves and spew red gold,
The bodies reaping what the government’s sewn.
Their sounds litter the streets,
Satan’s lullabies spewing from shrapnel hurricanes.

Deep in dilapidated brick
And crumbling foundations,
Poverty prisoners pray,
In primal screams,
Hands shackled by circumstance.
And hiding from the collapsing world
Skeleton children lie in trash can beds
Caked in dirt,
Drinking rain puddles,
Searching for light in the gutter.

this is really well written man. you imagery is absolutely beautiful (obviously in a very dark way). i'm really impressed with this because every single word was provocative and emotive. good stuff
