and a superficial flag high in desperation

paradoxical to those who know
welcomed and unwelcomed
dependent upon various responses
to a universal question

the fire around which they gather
becomes an image upon his arm
the core's a woman's call
sifted through logic to his imagination

she recognizes the blatant attempt
realizes nature's simplicity
and trots circles at a child's pace
