i'm a concept artist for games and movies by day, but i'm trying to get back into the habit of drawing for the sake of drawing again. here's some old caricatures and portraits and sketches of peeple. new stuff soon. i just felt the need to contribute...

drawing, and drawing WELL is a skill that takes thousands of hours of practice (not surprisingly). A good start would be to find some fundamental "learn to draw" type courses being given at local art schools, galleries, etc. Once you've got the basics covered a life drawing course is an absolute must. A big part of drawing, especially living things is having a thorough understanding of scale and anatomy.

I'm an art school dropout and i haven't picked up a pencil since i quit. It sucked every ounce of enjoyment out of it for me. I wish i had just kept it as a hobby :(

Great work though!

not a very good teacher, but i can tell you i have stacks of art books (never went to art school) and i've picked up at least a few things from each one. and I have practiced a lot of life drawing, especially portraits and figure studies. but i also try to draw from memory/imagination, too. i find that drawing from life then immediately drawing from memory helps me lock it in.

i do a lot of gesture and contour drawings too. i used to use guide lines and cylinders/stickmen a lot to start out a drawing, then i met a guy who just draws without much regard for construction lines (aka the natural way to draw). i've been doing it that way ever since.

some other old ones:
