This is just the first two verses, I'm still working.
I was riding in a taxi with a friend I used to know who said he just came home from the war He said the only thing that got him through was knowing Jesus Christ was with him on that foreign shore And I told him I don't believe in war or what we're fighting for I don't believe in Jesus Christ or what he's got in store And suddenly the taxi stopped and he got out and never looked back again I knew right there and then that I had lost a friend, that I lost a friend
I met a young girl down the way, a little to young to be seen with me, but insisted we went on We are not the dirty ones the dirty ones are all the ones who say our love is wrong We spent the morning laughing, playing games on the lawn But when the school bell rang in a moment she was gone I waited for her after school but saw her dad and I was all alone again I knew right there and then that I had lost a friend, that I had lost a friend
