OK all, it's that time again. I've got some music I've been putting together for the past year or so (though I've been writing for a lot longer). I wanted to share it with the world at large and thought why not here?

This is my band, Maish Thomas...we're a duo, I'm on guitar/vocals and there's drums as well. This is a demo we recorded a month or so ago: http://www.maishthomas.bandcamp.com

This is solo stuff I've been working on; I'm on all instruments except for the horn section in the first song: http://www.patrickdonachie.bandcamp.com

Hope you like.

Thanks for the kind words. We're pretty happy with the sound we got, although for some reason recording my amp is always a struggle.

how did you record the amp? I like the sound you got. The vocals are nicely mixed too...

Thanks for the compliments. We recorded at a studio in Chicago, and the producer ran my Fender Deluxe Reverb reissue through a Bassman cab, miking both. Pedals were an OCD Fulltone and a Death by Audio Fuzz War for the really loud parts.

For the vocals we recorded in the main room (or whatever it's called) as opposed to the isolation booth to get a larger room sound. The only downside was that there was really no way to record the vocals live with the main track, which I prefer to do.

It's a good start, but I'm excited about trying to do better. It's that age-old problem of trying to capture lightning in a bottle when you only have about five or six hours for tracking.

Solid recordings and nice mixing. Your clean tones are awesome, but it sounds like there's a slight dip in the levels for the harder parts with the pedals. A little boost or overdubbing would help add more punch. Or use your pedals in an effects loop to change the sound.

Cool stuff.
