hey people!
i'll post songs, hopefully some of you will take the time to write reviews. we're still at the mixing step so it's not stuck in concrete yet.

**update**
here's PÜDPAIN (new, almost definitive mix)

i just realized that songs shouldn't be translated. i can give you rough sketches of their meaning if you guys are interrested.

I'll have to check this out. Matiere Familiale Theatre is one of my favorite entries from the contest.

i dig it. its a very dry mix, which i'm assuming is going to get beefed up with reverb and such things. but sounds really bomb digghity. its no surprise you like malajube. my comments would be: I'm not a big fan of the funky electric guitar tone in the first minute and a half with the chorus on it, i'd perfer something more with more treble and abrasive distortion than the smooth sound it has now. i think the song really starts to kick ass in the second half.

really cool song though. its all over the place but still very much in your guys control, which i love. cool harmonies too. very AICish

I really like the tunes on your myspace page...however, my ignorant American ass does not understand French. Do you have the lyrics translated in English anywhere? Just curious. Keep the good work.

thanks! i'm not even sure you'd understand our lyrics if you spoke french since we sing like we speak here, in québécois, including slang (joual) and anglicisms. people from France for instance may have a hard time decyphering a thick québec accent
i'm fairly against translating nowadays because 1)i'm no Beaudelaire (who translated Edgar Poe's novels to french in a sublime way) and 2)even if i was Beaudelaire, it still couldn't ring as true as the original text.
i'm all for giving insights though - i'll update the header post and give you a head-up soon.
thanks again for listening!

Just checked out your mypsace, and i'm loving your sound...i'd already heard La Bouton...and of the other three i think Duct Tape was my favourite (if only for the title alone!).

But all the songs are great...i can't think of anyone who sounds directly similar to you...which itself is a huge compliment. I've only heard a little bit of Primus, and they were the closest parallel i could draw...but personally, i prefer Chiendent =)

yeah you gotta remember you know your influences better than your listeners, so i doubt artists very rarely feel inventive.

DÉRAISON

this is my latest tune - obviously it's not for the next LP. i wrote it last week because next wednesday i have a little solo gig and the promoter wanted a solo song from me so he booked me a little session in a studio last friday. i spent all of last weeks' nights writing lyrics and music that resulted in about 4 different song scenarios and i picked this one as the best. it's demo-quality but it's been arranged, recorded, mixed and mastered within 2 hours. (and it was on the radio three days later)

i'm not a guitar solo type of guy but i'm pretty proud of this one :)

This sounds slightly like what Ed would sound like singing in Quebecois.

Good stuff here. I like it. The closest artist I could think of would be Les Négresses Vertes. I really enjoy that band.
