Or it is because she is hot as hell and way out of her husband's league, making him a over-bearing controlling asshole douchebag who doesn't let her post any pictures in fear of other dudes coming on to her.

So, this guy I've met a couple of times (he's a long-time friend of a friend) requests me on FB. Turns out he's kind of batshit insane: his inspirational people include Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann and Rush Limbaugh (and so on - including Jesus Christ at number one, of course). Having met this guy plenty of times, I never had the merest hint he was so inclined - and it's extra weird since, well, he's an Australian guy from the suburbs. I can only guess he spends a lot of time hanging around conservative US blogs? Makes posts calling people "Marxist progressives" and rants about how the Democrats are a "force of evil", etc.
Anyway, I started gingerly to make a few critical posts on a few of his status updates - particularly one where he argued against the separation between church and state. Then I realised, wait, no, this guy is probably fucking insane and will hunt me down with a sniper rifle when I least expect it - so I deleted my comments. Last night he messaged me stating he saw I posted on his wall but the comment is gone, would I care to let him know what I had to say?...

Good grief, this isn't going to end well.
I used to know this Australian guy...

Keep us up-to-date, Spence. If you die, there might be one positive: your daughter might turn into the girl who stars in that movie 'Kickass'. That'd be amazing.
"OK you cunts..." Aussie-style!

Oh, I messaged him back alright.
How did it work out?
It only happened a short time ago, I'm still waiting to find out.
My initial impulse to comment was an attempt to engage him in some good-natured debate with a view to making him reflect critically on the material he posts; I'd meekly hoped to perhaps talk him down from the ledge of extremism and gently nudge him towards a more considered approach.
Then I realised he was a born-again Christian (a relatively recent convert too, by the looks). I guess he's throwing himself into it with unrestrained enthusiasm at the moment, I'm sure he'll get disillusioned with it eventually without my assistance. I'd be interested to know what came first, the ultra-conservatism or the new-found road to salvation.
