There's no way in hell I deserve my nearly-wife. I didn't even know I could play league ball before I met her. I was definitely playing Sunday league, not Premier. We get married on Saturday.

I started dating this guy. ...but he's already expressed to me how much he likes me that i don't think I like him so much anymore. I should say he's over-expressed it. Like "ok, buddy, enough"
Is this what wearing your heart on your sleeve is?
I always thought that expressing one's feelings was a good thing, but I suppose over done is a problem.....which is a shame, really.
A lot of guys do that, and it's terrible. It's a combination of impatience and insecurity. They want so desperately for the relationship to move past the initial 'mutual discovery' stage (because they perceive it as awkward or nervewracking or whatever) that they convince themselves that they're head-over-heels in love, and they're vocal about it. They lay it on thick instead of enjoying that initial nervous thrill and letting the relationship (and their own feelings) grow organically. It reeks of desperation and haste, so it's an understandable turn-off.
You and I should hang out sometime, kt. Just to chat, no pretense. I have some records I think you'll like.
