cause i love my eyesite
IE isnt the devil everyone makes it out to be, as long as you have a good AV and keep up with the updates
i only put icons on my desktop of things i use steadily

hehe nice! KDE is by far the most popular "desktop environment" but I personally can't stand the look of it :P When you get a chance, you should try some others like Xfce or Gnome.
