about the government not caring...what they really should do and how they should care. maybe sob story was a poor choice of words...but if you actually read the rest of the post...you'd have gotten the gist of my point. disagree all you want - but bottom line it makes sense for your health and for the benefit of others that we all buckle up.

if it weren't for all sorts of bullshite with insurance and healthcare....we all could save some $$$. as i said - of course you are free to do as you please...but don't try to make it sound sensible...b/c it clearly isn't.

I'm curious clubber- if you ever had/have a baby, or transport one, will you put them in a child seat or in a seat belt if they are older?

Of course
at what age will you let them determine whether they will continue to wear one or not and did your parents make you wear one and encourage you to wear one when you don't?

sorry- lots of questions

I would hope that they would always wear one. I most likely would care about my childs life more than my own. Basically after they are 18 they cabn do what they want but I would never tell them not to wear a seat-belt

I find them annoying first of all. 2nd, i was thrown out of my car a couple of years ago. I wasn't wearing my seat-belt and my car slid into a ditch on the higway. I flew out of my window totally unharmed. If I did have a seat belt on i think i would have cracked my skull on the windshield. I most likely also had my life saved by wearing a seat-belt so my thought on the issue isn't totally negative. My friend hit a tree and the seat-belt definitely saved me from a possible death. I ended up cracking two ribs though. i just think it should be my choice if I want to wear one.

it still is a choice. if you chose not to wear it - you pay the consequences. either with your health/life....or through your cash. but it still is a CHOICE.

I agree with that. I think it should be choice. I wear one now. I never used to and also found them annoying. I got in the habit of wearing it and now it feels uncomfortable without it on.

Side Note: Fine for my seatbelt violation = $10

It may be higher now, that was a couple of years ago.

I guess it is but to be fined for not wearing one seems unfair to me. I got a ticket a month ago so now i reluctantly put my seat belt on when i drive. Sometimes i foget to do it and it would really piss me off if i got fined again just cause i forgot. The whole thing is so annoying to me

eh well...i see it as for the greater good....but c'est la vie. i will politely agree to disagree with you on this one. i will say however - that your attitude about it IS probably a contributing factor as to why it is a lwa....b/c they know most of us wouldn't willingly choose to do so....even though we should. so there it is.

On another note. I've never got a speeding ticket in my life or any moving violation. My driving record is basically spotless yet i now have 3 seat-belt tickets on my resume. I guess I'm the idiot

I see what you're saying though. I was just trying to see the journey to that decision.

I dont feel safe wearing my seat belt, the upper belt is just about my neck, and I feel if something happens the belt will cut my head off.
