Since my freshmen year in college i've gained about 60 pounds... I drink lots of alcohol on the weekends and have been doing so for about 5 years now. I've grown to love beer very very much, and it's hard to imagine a life without it, but I know that it's been a huge part of the weight gain process. Should I quit drinking and focus on losing weight? Lets see some opinions...
ive always been pretty active, but im starting to feel flubby due to my beer drinking. im losing weight, but thats because i havent been to the gym in fucking ages and all my beautiful muscles are fading away.
beer is awesome, eat well and save it for the weekend.

I'm in the same position. Though i haven't gained 60lbs i have gained a bit since high school and i'm getting a bit of a gut . I still limit my drinking to the weekends though. Very rarely during the week, and even then it's not much. I was doing good going to the gym, but i cancelled my membership at the beginning of the summer because it was getting to be a huge hassle and i've yet to join a new gym.
My advice...eat well, exercise lots and limit your drinking to once a week. I was in pretty good shape for a while following that routine.
I've lost 10 lbs. since I curbed my drinking in the last year or so. I was guzzling beer like a baby sucking from its mother's teet. You should cut back but you don't have to quit. You'll be amazed how just a minor shift in your lifestyle will have enormous results on your waistline AND your pocket book.

I just drink light beer and work out.
If you really like beer but don't want the weight, make another change. For instance don't eat any fast food, or make every lunch a salad. But the biggest thing has to be working out. I doubt you'll drop the 60 from just stopping drinking, or at the very least it'll take forever.

Don't quit drinking, just stop eating.
Yeah the question is, are you eating pizza at 2:00AM? Late night eating is such a bad thing while away at school. cut down on that and drink other spirits.
I put on most of my college weight by eating wings, pizza and taco bell after midnight. Drinking added to it, but the food was worse.

This is neither here nor there, but Sam Adams light beer is actually pretty good. Maybe if you switch to light beer and liquor and start exercizing more...
