Okay, so it's probaby been done before, but I haven't seen it as a thread, and my piss-poor search skills don't get me anywhere (I either get no results because I'm too specific, or pages and pages of results because I'm too vague).

The Classic Nickelodeon thread got me to thinking..

What cool contests have you won?

I've won little door prizes, and some scholarships, stuff like that, but nothing MAJOR.

About the best thing I ever won was a copy of binaural a couple of days before it was released. The radio station had been advertising that the next day, whenever they played a pearl jam song, the 1st caller would win a copy. I woke up late the next morning, rolled over, turned on the radio, listened to the tail end of a commercial, and then the first few notes of "animal"...

I had won the CD within about 2 minutes of waking up.

I made my boyfriend proud. 8)

i won a free trip to disneyworld about 7 years ago, but it was just for different workers in my company, you couldn't bring anyone along.

i had a great time, and never made it to the parks. just hung out at the hotel bar and drove around orlando with one of the other winners.

I've won many a competition, a newspaper award, a science fair, awards in school, and a couple scholarships but my biggest achievement was winning this in 94, 97, 98, and 99 for figure skating:

The Joan Vassar trophy is presented annually by the Vassar family to the highest ladies freestyle skater who is a home club member of the Westminster FSC of Erie. The award is given in memory of their daughter Joan, who suffered brain damage at birth and was unable to participate in many activities but did a great deal to encourage her family to use what abilities God had given each of them. It is presented each year to encourage skaters to do their very best in whatever they do.

I lost out in 95 and 96 to Allison Irwin. Yeah, the bitch from Big Brother 4. Also, finally getting my Golds in my Senior Moves for skating was a huge accomplishment for me.

oh yes, I forgot my highest honor.

some sort of "best at math" award given out by the faculty at my 8th grade "graduation" (I was actually proud of that one).

and highest PSAT score in my high school (I was actually embarassed by that one, because who fucking cares if you have the highest PSAT score.. you NEED the highest SAT score to make it count, right?)

congrats! Athletics were never my strong point. I'm a big chicken. Once I started having to do sommersaults on the balance beam, I quit gymnastics. Once we had to teach the horse to jump over the little ditch, I quite horseback riding (you get the idea).
