Why do people insist on pronouncing "across" as "acrost?" This annoys me to no end. It's even more irritating than "kyoopon."

I hate it when people pronounce "soda" as "pop." It's not even close, people! Sound it out!

But "kyoopon" is an acceptable pronunciation of "coupon" though.

Technically it's accepted, but it's not the "correct" one. "Coo pon" is the preferred. "Kyoo pon" is only accepted because 45% of Americans pronounce it incorrectly.

But "acrost" is not acceptable at all. I hate "acrost."

Acrosst is pretty damn annoying, but not quite as bad as Liberry or Cinanum. I want to smack everyone who makes those mistakes...

Have any of you read an internet message board lately?

Enunciation is the least of the language problems...

I definitely agree. It's even worse when your english teacher pronounces it "acrost."
