What the hell? How come sometimes I use it and it makes me look like I have a light tan, and sometimes it makes me look like I rubbed dirt on my face?

try washing the brush you use to apply it with, maybe?

No, I use very little and it's a very subtle shade. I think maybe my moisturizer isn't completely dry or something.
