i was eating lunch and my mum was reading a newspaper of some kind that just has car ads in it. so i started thinking, because i had no reading material in front of me and my mind had to go somewhere, about the newspaper's profit margin and how the price just covers the cost of production and they make all of their money from ads. which got me thinking about the nature of newspapers themselves (i do have a point which i'll be getting to presently) and how disposable they are. how you can't really raise the price (much) because people wouldn't be willing to pay much for something they will read once and disregard. then i started thinking, why on earth do people keep old newspapers?

does anyone have an answer?

iused to write for my school paper. i have every issue that i wrote for or edited, and two of the issue with the ad that i'm in because i'm kind of vain. otherwise, i'll keep a newspaper if there was something important in it (graduation announcements, et cetera).

i mostly clip out things and recycle the rest.

"Recycling and speed limits are bullshit," Tyler said. "They're like someone who quits smoking on his deathbed."

I kept a copy for when I had my 21st birthday, because it was my 21st birthday.
