Hello All

My question is - If you were buying a home. And it had a sump pump (or 2). Would that turn you away?

Here's my situation
I bought my home with the intent of finishing the basement and adding 1200 sq ft. BUT there is a water issue that need to be solved first. I've had 3 estimates on "waterproofing" the basement and 2 were around 10K and one was 17K. They all involved digging a trench around the inside perimeter along with sump pumps.

It's not a ton of water and not constantly. In the 4 years I've been there we've had water 4 times. After a couple of heavy rains and one time during a big thaw. Highest amount was about 50 gallons... so it's not like it was a flood. But enough to cause big problems if it had been finished.

So I'm wondering if we install these pumps, is it going to drive away potential buyers somewhere down the road?

We have no plans to sell. But you never know.

We've also dreamt about putting a 2nd level on our Ranch. but I'm guessing that would be HUGE bucks?
