OK, so I got a ticket for speeding (45 in a 25) but the sign was blocked by trees & I have photo proof, but I can't find a law in writing stating the sign can't be obsucred.
anyone help me with a ULR, or the law? I've been searching, but I can't come up with it.
threads with the word "HELP!" in the title always turn out great, and threads started by mrblonde always turn out terrifically as well. so this could be one for the ages. i'm getting in at the ground floor.

Was that the only sign on the entire length of the road you were traveling?
If it was 25 mph, it was either residential or high-density retail/office, like a downtown or shopping area.
You should have known from experience that 45 mph is reserved for 5 lane roads, backroads, and the like.
Pay the ticket and pay attention to where you are.

i'd like to just pay the fine and not get points, but i was going 51 in a 30...

Call the court and tell them you can't make it. You're not on trial for murder, they will almost always accomidate you. Under no circumstances should you ignore it unless you want a suspended license.

yea but, i don't think i'll ever be able to make it unless it's on a weekend, and still, what good will that do? i'm going to waste 100 bucks to drive up there and lose?

yep, or take defensive driving if you're eligible
Which reminds me. I'm getting the idea from the ticket I've got here that since I do not have a TEXAS liscense, I'm not elgible to take said defensive driving. Anything else I can do here as an out-of-stater to keep points from going on my liscense? My record is clean.
maybe mitchell'll loan you some money. i hear that cat's loaded

No, in many cases you can do a written plea.
EDIT: but, i was already in court once and pleaded not guilty. this is the trial part. does that matter? i really know nothing.

Call 'em up. Tell them you live in LI (you're presumably a student? that may help also) and ask what your options are.

You won the lottery last year. Can you just pay the ticket?
I could, but why should I ? the goddamn town has a highway department & they should keep the signs clear. I was doing 65 in a 45 last year & knew it was a 45 & got caught & paid up. it's the principal of it.

I was only speeding becaue I didn't see the 25MPH Speed limit.
I was in a town I'd never been in before & the 45 MPH Zone was not a 5 lane highway, it was a rural rt.
It was a rural route in the middle of farm country and was 25 mph? Unlikely. If it was "in town" then you should have known 45 was too fast. Any experienced driver knows that there's a huge difference between what a 25 mph area and a 45 mph area look like. You don't just go as fast as you can until you see a sign, you observe the surroundings and compare them to similar surroundings and drive appropriately.
