austin's great, but you could do that scene anywhere really. plan an extended stay and explore the hill country around austin. get outdoors, visit small towns like gruene or fredericksburg. then you could say you've been to texas. then drive east, but don't come here to beaumont. that's more of the "deep south". go through orange, across the border, head strait for new orleans. it's a filthy city, but loads of fun. and you are bound to meet interesting people all along I-10.

i really do not know how the whorehouses don't get raided in houston. they are everywhere. they are not subtle in their advertising in the Press, and they are everywhere. seriously. can someone from houston back me up?

i don't know what their normal size is either, but the ones here in South Florida are twice, and sometimes 3x that size. DO NOT FUCKING WANT.

It is. Thing about Austin is it's not much to look at, but the people/shit to do is where it's at. We do have some nice areas, but there's way more ugly strip mall stuff than your average "famous city". But the people are really cool, they tend to be more interested, more active in what they believe in, and less jaded than other big city residents. I love living here, personally. I don't know why I didn't get over myself and just go to UT. Living in LA absolutely sucked compared to living here.

I should also note that WM is right about the hill country and the other natural bits. Those are the nice parts I was talking about. There's a greenbelt that runs right throught the city that's beautiful, and the outlying hill country is very nice.

just say something like i want to go to the water cooler then go there. start small.
