im going to say old favorites. because old favorites become such because you have heard them so many times. i LOVE hearing a new song for the first time, partly because im thinking to myself 'shit i cant wait to listen to this again!'
i would go with old favorites, and space them out over time.

old favorites.
However, if there was a choice to listen to the 100 old favorites or nothing but new songs each five or six times in a row then I would pick the new songs. I don't feel like you can really get a song until you've heard it a few times, and if I picked old favorites like five years ago, I never would have heard some really great new songs.

i can agree with this. my main argument against the new songs is that you only get one cold listen. the first time you hear a new song is fun and exciting, but the fifth, tenth, hundreth... etc time you hear are the times that its most magical because by then you know it, you can feel it, and it can define something as small as a single moment or as all encompassing as an era in your life.
Surprising you guys would choose to hear the same 100 songs. Roughly eight albums worth of music for the rest of your lives. Every movie, tv show, grocery store, radio station, party/bar... you would only hear one out of 100 possible songs. I can see it now: "OK, Mr. Director, the Transporter's Audi just exploded... what music will be playing during this scene? Citizen Erased? AGAIN?"

I see your point, but still.... you're ok with NEVER hearing Citizan Erased again (great song, btw)? I'd probably get tired of a good chunk of the 100, but I still couldn't part with them.
Give me Vitalogy, Yield, and six mix cds. I'll make due.
