I'm pretty sure the back yard was used for dogfighting.

They had three separate kennels with heavy-duty chains in them, the backyard and kennels were separated from the porch with a chain-link fence, and there were some sort of outdoor cable hookups under the porch. Also, someone who lived there apparently got arrested.

House hunting is not easy. And even when you buy a house, once you move in....that's when you begin to see past all the cosmetic 'fixes' to entice the sale.

There's a lot of old houses that need to be completely gutted. And a lot of new houses that are built cheap and fast, but for exorbitant amounts of money. It's a completely depressing market.

We're still in the process of gutting my house, little by little. And doing it right, so the next owner won't move into a piece of over priced sh*t.

best of luck in your home finding endeavors!

Yeah, I've seen a few fixer-uppers, but I never expected to see one that might have been used for dog fighting...

I'm actually considering making an offer on a 20-year-old house that's in a really nice neighborhood, was built well, but was completely trashed. It'll need some work on the walls, the roofing might need to go, and the flooring will have to be completely redone, along with a few other cosmetic things, but I might actually be able to profit on it. It'll probably appraise for $60k-$70k more than I pay for it.

But it will be a major headache.

Just don't be too quick to 'consolidate' any high interest debt to your mortgage.

I just made an offer on a house today and they accepted it.

I guess I didn't lowball them enough. :?

Maybe it's the fact that we constantly antagonize each other over ideological disagreements?

I live in a small apartment. It's quaint, though. Wanna trade?
