paraphrased from wikipedia:

sometimes, a person's original soul will depart their body. in this case, a new soul will possess the body for whatever reason. the person may be disoriented or confused through out life. this, i understand, is based on a misunderstanding of an ancient hindu concept. and it is also sometimes associated with near-death experiences.

see the season 7 x-files episode "closure" for an exploration of the concept of "walk-ins".

It is a known fact that wayward spirits travel our world by encasing themselves in pockets of unusual energy. These pockets often can be found because they are areas that seem unusually warm, even hot. These Hot Pockets can be very dangerous, when encountered.

it should have provided a reason why the original soul has departed, and why and how a new one comes along. clearly we can't be talking death, because you said a new soul possesses the body.

Walk-in is thought to be a person whose original soul has departed his or her body and been replaced with a new soul. It is based on a misunderstanding of an ancient concept described in Hinduism whose modern name originated in the Spiritualist faith and was popularized by the related, but not identical New Age movements and beliefs.

c_bs, don't tell me that you're actually going to give an ounce of credence to this idea of walk-ins.

asking questions -- demanding evidence -- is giving credence?
