So yeah, the truss rod of my Fender American Deluxe Jazz bass isnt working anymore. Its all loosy, turning easily without any effect on the neck.

My luck is that Fender stuff has the neck bolted! This means that is much easier to replace the neck. A set in neck (glued) instrument, like Gibson, is very expensive and almost surgery-like to remove the neck and install a new one.

So now im trying to contact a national luthier to build me a new neck. The cool thing is that i will be able to have some specs as i've always wanted and that the Fender neck lacked. No more curvy radius, curvy radius are good for chords on a guitar, but my bass i want a flat fingerboard for sweet low action. Also a zero fret for even more even action. And the most important, the neck shape and profile, the Fender C shaped was good, but not the best for my hand, im thinking about an asymmetrical profile, many high end basses have this profile.

Why haphazardly tighten a nut when you can calculate the stress required? It is far more elegant.
