sorry just needed to vent...im not drinking and im on suboxone (look it up) to help with the withdrawal symptoms associated with the cessation of opiate consumption... so far the doc hasnt done much but prescribe the med so im just waiting to see if there will be a therapy component to it since group isnt my thing (cept with sex ) tried explaining it to dad this evening but to no avail...he was "confused"
thank you for listening
ps-does this make for an interesting GD thread...or should i have posted in the alcohol and junkies forum? Mods feel free to move or merge this to the correct forum/thread

Sorry to hear about the troubles. I've got a bit of a fight with the bottle going on at all times. I'm down a lot from two years ago, when I would literally go back and forth between drinking a bottle of Jack one night and drinking two bottles of wine the other.
There's an addict forum? A lot of the musician boards out there have one, but we don't, right? How would I not be the moderator of that one?!

thanks...and no...no addict forum ha! yeah alcohol is good but alcohol plus painkillers=really really good (unfortunately) though the opiate addiction has now made the alcohol crap without them so not drinking is pretty easy so long as i dont use...go figure
you ever try quitting cold turkey?

Yeah. Made it two weeks once, 10 days another. I never tried any sort of medical assistance, though.
I've never played the painkillers game. The liver is just a scary ass thing to risk fucking up, and in my deformed mindset if I drown it in poison but take vitamins, avoid processing other unneeded items, and eat well, it's okay.

Also, how is House not just a blatant, more dramatic, Dr. Cox rip off? Plus the story lines are lame as often as they're great.
if you knew what you were talking about dr house is a rip off of sherlock holmes (the whole series is based off of sherlock holmes, hense wilson -> watson drug use, ect...) dr cox's similarities are a coincidence... too bad the writing for house is better so the actor doesn't have to stumble over long winded insults which are very contrived and barely funny. and i can't agree whatsoever with the lame storylines, i think there's been maybe one episode that wasn't completely on point... the show is one of the most consistent shows i've seen
but this threads got bigger concerns, take it to a pm if you wanna continue... we can have a snapping knife fight

On point doesn't equal interesting or good...although I agree about Cox's tragic rants.

DON'T MIX ALCOHOL WITH OPIATES. If you're using pills, the tylenol and alcohol will KILL your liver. Get your enzymes checked. If you're getting clean H and/or Oxy (or the classic holy grail, smoking opium through a pipe) and drinking you'll misjudge your high and binge out to an OD. Of the two, unbelievably, the latter is safer than the former. With pills, the reason Hydrocodone and T3's are of lower concern than, say, Heroin or Oxycontin (which are pure opiates) is because they contain Tylenol, preventing both chronic and acute abuse. There is a little-known home remedy way to get the tylenol out of the tylenol-opiate pill problem, but since you're trying to quit, I'll just give you the advice to stick with the suboxone. I really couldn't do it myself since it has naltrexone mixed in it and nal makes me sick; I'd have to go with unadulterated bupe instead.
If your alcohol problem is bad, don't go off cold-turkey. If you've been chronically using for a while, alcohol WD's are deadly. Opiate WD's are hardly ever deadly unless you're in generally poor health to begin with, but they're equally unpleasant as any other withdraw (expect to call in late with a "flu" for the next two weeks, and keep plenty of Loperamide (Imodium), an opiate that doesn't cross the blood-brain barrier, on hand to alleviate the horrible diarrhea you'll experience. For both cases (especially if your alcohol use wasn't, say, a half-bottle to a bottle of grain alcohol a day), keep a few valium or other benzos on hand to help with the shakes and the overwhelming desire to use and alleviate the symptoms.

thanks guys! ive got the info and my alcohol abuse was a problem but not to the point of alcoholism...its pretty easy to quit booze but the hydro was another story though i got off that using kratom and now am on suboxone to get off that...dizzying i know...but if this doesnt work im gonna go back to the kratom and try to taper on lower grade leaf rather than the more potent extracts which is what got me to where i am today...once im through the withdrawals i should be fine its just that they seem to be hangin on longer this time and 2 weeks of work feeling like that isnt an option...so hopefully the suboxone comes through
