Christ, that's the worst. What exactly are you doing? Are you living in LA? Just wondering, I'm considering a move in the next year or so.

Forgive me for asking all these questions...is the job market actually decent for people with film degrees but no experience?
I'd consider starting as a PA (along with a million other grads) or post/editing even though my Final Cut skills are shit...My internship in NYC got me nowhere and there seems to be more opportunity in Los Angeles.

If you go to a good film school you will get experience before you graduate.

well obviously I've done plenty of production work but I'm wary about how far someone from Illinois can go in an industry that is almost exclusively about "networking" and "connections" and knowing the right people or some other bullshit

I did some work for free which led to me getting an assistant editor job, and I just interviewed for the FOX job fresh out of college. they liked what i said i guess, cause everyone else in the think tank are 25 or older, and i'm just 22. so i've been lucky. there's a lot of work out here, it helps if you know people, which was a plus to going to school in LA cause you build a foundation in the city
but i'm from illinois too,. my 2nd cousin moved to LA from michigan and within a week had a PA job on a big reality show, and she's been doing really well and taking on more responsibilities.
i don't network either, just you do good work people tell their friends and give more work to you

no problem. there's tons of opportunity here, if you're ever going to give it a shot, LA's a good place to do it
