i took some practice versions and oh it was NOT pretty. i'd go with a test prep class or software - dont know too many people who have done badly with either.

knock em dead!

Oh, best of luck, Ledbetter! Keep us updated on your progress in preparing. I wish I could give you some advice, but I'm useless in this area. I do think it's great that you're going to take it. Good luck! :D

I don't know squat about the LSAT, but I will say that it's good to take a test prep class...they help A LOT. I'm taking one for the GRE and they give you endless resources, ways to cut down on time, and it really refreshes your memory.

granted, i don't know what the LSAT is like...but classes do help so that you know what to expect. Also, the ets (http://www.ets.org [i think that's the right address]) will send you practice tests if you want to practice.

Good luck!

I took it cold. Never seen one before I sat down to take it.

But then again, standardized tests are fun to me. You may want to at least look at the little sample in the back of the registration book to see the format. Oh, screw it, it's just like the SAT with less math, slightly harder vocabulary, and an essay portion that is designed to see if you can write coherently for 30 minutes. If you can write a post on RM that makes any sense whatsoever, Yulebee Feinstein.

My sister took it and passed it and now is in her second year of Law School. She's a little ditzy and kind of lacking in common sense knowledge, but she has the book smarts.

What Law School are you going to try to get into?

Don't go to law school! Unless you're receiving a full ride on a scholarship, take the $150,000 and invest it. You'll make more money and be happier.

As for the LSAT, take a couple of practice tests to get your timing down. And when in doubt, pick "c."

Finally, you'll need about a 158-160 to get into the middle of the road law schools -- law school is much more competitive today with the soaring admission applications.

Good luck!

You know I have no idea what I got on the LSATs. I took 'em twice, I got nearly the same score both times, and I don't know what it was.

Marijuana.

take a practice exam. and time yourself. that's the most important thing you can do to prepare. then you'll know what to expect.

the official review classes are good i guess, but expensive. i didn't take one, but my girlfriend did, and she raised her score considerably. but i don't think it would have helped me out too much.

other than a few timed practice exams, i took it "cold" and did pretty well (somewhere in the low 80th percentile). i had shitty grades but high scores and got into only 2 of the 6 school to which i applied, so depending on where you're planning on going and what grades you have, you may need to do pretty well on it.

Really? I didn't even know Penn State had a law school. How in the hell did you end up in Milwaukee?

1. Penn State bought my Law School while I was there (Dickinson School of Law)

2. My wife is from Milwaukee, and it is a wonderful city. But now I work in the flatlands again.
