so my buddy and i are eating lunch today and our waittress is stunning. we ate, paid for our meal, left the tip, and we started to walk out when i decided that i was going to go back and ask for her number. she was working and shit, and i kind of didn't want to bug her, but i figured i would just cut to the chase since she wouldn't have had time to talk to me anyway. and so it goes down like this...

"excuse me, i don't mean to interrupt, i know you're busy."

"that's ok."

"i just wanted to tell you that i think you're really pretty."

she then gave me an awwwww kind of look and thanked me.

i said, "i dont mean to be forward, but is there any chance i can get your number so we could talk?"

"i'm sorry, but i do have a boyfriend. we live together, so it is pretty serious. thank you so much, though. wow...if you think i look pretty like this, that really makes my day."

yea, i got turned down which blows. i wasn't remotely embarrassed though. the thing that stuck out most to me is that she seemed genuinely flattered by my commment. i really have no idea what she thought of me, but i walked away from it with a strange sense of confidence. i always thought that was sort of a lame (and perhaps creepy) way to approach a girl, but considering the situation, it was really all i could do.

so let me ask the broads here...is this an acceptable way to meet a woman? because if it is, i think i'm going to start doing this a lot more often. the problem with bars and clubs and shit is that you kind of have to be persistent over what may be a long period of time, which can be annoying for either person. but fuck...if telling girls they're pretty really makes them happy, then i'm probably gonna do this sort of thing more often when im in stores and shit.

haven't you ever noticed that girls will say something bad about the appearance of someone that they perceive as being better looking? As much as anyone will tell you that appearance isn't that bad of a thing, girls still want to be reassured that they look good.

if a girl digs you, she'll appreciate the compliment...just remember that this woman was in customer service...now that i've been working the espresso stand, a bit, i can tell you that when customers say complimentary things to me, i always express gratitude, even if i feel grossed out inside... but i doubt that was your issue Mowbi i'm just saying, give it a try with a woman who isn't serving you and see how it goes...again, if she digs ya, she'll be really flattered; if she's indifferent, it may move her over to the Mowbi side

none of this seems creepy to me. If you'd gone up to her and started talking about how you wanted to have sex with her or something, that, would be creepy. I don't think we, the general public, take time to appreciate anything that is beautiful these days.
The nature of her work, I'm sure she does deal with a lot of creep shows on a daily basis. Be thankful that she was willing to take that as a compliment.

actually, something that always irritated me about the service industry (waittresses, bartenders and shit) is that it's generally considered to be pretty lame if you attempt to hit on one of the girls. those sort of businesses tend to hire hot girls too.

i mean...i understand the chicks get hit on a million times, but i there's no reason i shouldn't be permitted to be interested in them.
