I've got an iTrip and it's worked great for me. Really depends on where you're going to be most of the time and how many frequencies are filled up with shitty radio stations though. I can't see it working too good in LA for example.

A must for road trips and pretty much everything else. I love mine.

auxiliary-in or cassette adapter is the way to go. fm transmitters are the biggest waste of money ever. if you really want one, i'll sell you mine for $10.

I've got a Creative Zen, and I would've much preferred to do that... but apparently it doesn't have the capability.

So I've got a Wensington wireless transmitter. Apparently the best one, but honestly, the sound quality could definitely be better. It's not too much of a problem though.

A couple of tips if you're having trouble with yours:

A) Don't settle on the first unused radio station you get.
B) Keep the volume on the mp3 player down to about 3/4 of it's potential.

my Zen works well with the Belkin Tunecast II. but every 6 months or so the thing craps out and I have to buy a new one at the wallmart and take back the old one the next day

Don't waste your time with an FM transmitter. For the person who said they use them for roadtrips, doesnt it constantly get fucked up as the radio stations changed? I had one very briefly, and even just driving around town I couldnt find a station that worked consistently.

well my car has an aux in thingy, so all i needed was a cable that goes from the ipod to the aux in and that's it. sounds just as good as playing mp3's from your pc.

A lot of newer cars have an aux input somewhere near the cd player...it just looks like a headphone jack. I think you can get adapters for older factory car stereos as well. But I have an aftermarket cd player in my car which has a stereo auxiliary input on the back. All i needed was a stereo Y cable (headphone jack for the ipod end, two red/white stereo jacks for the output end). Since i already had the hookup on my deck it cost me nothing to do.

I stay on one radio station when I drive around town and the sound is excellent. I have to turn up the radio slightly more. As for raod trips: I drove up to North Carolina from Florida and only had to change it the radio station right or nine times. It only takes, you know, five minutes. I think it's worth it.

I've got a Creative Zen and a tape adaptor. Works perfectly. If my car stereo had aux in, that would work perfectly as well. I don't know what you're talking about.

I should've mentioned that I don't have a tape deck

That's a problem.

My next car will have a tape deck or an aux in or I'll be getting a different car.

for some reason when i bought my truck i decided to get a tape player - i think i was planning on listening occasionally to old grateful dead boots i had. never did much of that but sure was glad when i bought my iPod that I had it, i tried an iTrip for a while and i hated it, then realized the old tape adapter from my portable CD player worked fine.

I have a TransPod. Works really well, even in the city. Sometimes you get a little static but never too bad

I bought a kit that attaches my ipod right to my factory deck. i can control the ipod through the controls on the steering wheel. I love it.
