Yeah... that could be doable. I'll likely need a car? Or are there shuttles from the hotels?
It depends on where you are and what you want to do. The city is very spread out. If you're in the downtown area and you want to stay in that area, which isn't such a bad idea, as there's plenty to do, then you won't really need a car. You can check out places like the riverwalk/channel side sections for example. Of course I bring that up if you're into a kind of upscale night life. And even though it can be a bit upscale it's still a very cool place with a good vibe to it. Then you have Ybor City, which is kind of a step down in terms of the type of patronage it attracts. Although it does contain a couple pretty upscale clubs, at least it did when I went years ago. Ybor, as far as its night life experience goes, has kind of a a new orleans flavor to it with bands playing in small bars. As for Bush Gardens, it's pretty far from the downtown area. It's much closer to USF, a major state college located in hillsborough county.

Sweet, thanks. Ybor City... is this a place I might get stabbed?

hahaha, oh yeah, multiple times too. Seriously though, if you're drunk and stupid and you wander down a dimly lit alley your chances will go up but you can say the same thing about a lot of places in large cities.

This is indeed true - I've been to most large cities in the US now, thanks to work. There was a time in Miami that I thought for sure my co-worker and I were going to be gang banged before the night was over. Thankfully, I don't drink now while on-site. If I'm alone and sober at night in Ybor City, let's say, is there still a chance this could still happen? Is it that sort of town?

Well, I never had issues in Ybor but then again a 210 pound Irish dude isn't exactly the most appealing potential target for assault and/or robbery. If you are alone and hanging out in Ybor, I will say that first of all, I don't consider that the smartest, safest idea but if you keep to walking along the major streets where there is heavy traffic you'll be alright. Staying within a group is the best idea.

ha! My co-workers are lame... I'll just stay away from Ybor City. Just found out I'm at the Hyatt Regency... guess I'll google the area.
