i got my oil changed at 4011 miles. its a new car, so i had some give and take on the standard 3000 miles.
i bought it in august with 11 miles on it.
does this make me a bad person?
doesnt make you a bad person but it could void the warranty. then again you usually have to get oil changes done at the dealer for the warranty to be preserved.

Hardly! Depending on how you drive, you might have even been able to wait longer.
I know that Chevy's (and probably all GM vehicles) come with a Oil Life Monitor (OLM). It reads your driving habits (ie, lots of stop and go, speed, etc.) and tells you when an oil change is needed. Most people driving habits allow for an oil change at closer to 5,000 miles.

What did you buy?
i bought kia spectra, 10 yr/100,000 warranty. i probably could have let it go a bit longer, but since is the first car i have ever purchased that is from the same decade that i purchased it, i want it to last long and was just being overly protective

it really is. i pretty much bought it site unseen. my stratus was having huge transmission problems and i just got fed up with it, took off the next day and had called the dealership i used to consult for and said, i need a car, i want a kick ass warranty and i want good mileage
i got there and it was waiting for me
on the downside, i was fired two days later from my last job on the plusside, i was never so happy in my life

Am I allowed to ask what dealership? Just curious. Ask their service department, they should be able to give you some guidance. If they tell you "every 3K miles" they are lying.

sorry to hear about your job. Employed again?
ron lewis automotive group
they said it was around 5k, but like i said, i would rather be safe than sorry, since this is my first big boy purchase.
yea, im down in sewickley now closer to home and much less stress in working for a boss who will not listen to a word you have to say and will blame you for everyones mistakes even if you show documentation that someone else did it.
i have said it before and ill say it again, i will take less money at a job were there is no superiority complex and people can talk about different solutions rather than a dictatorship that theres only one way to do something (especially in the IT field)
on the plus side, the boss whos decision it was to fire me was herself fired 2 weeks before xmas, which made me smile on the inside
