my great aunt lives in Dahlonega, Georgia and when I was about 5 to 10 years old, my cousins Benjamin and Timothy and I would all pile into Aunt Kim's van to go to the Gold-Panning capitol of Georgia go to Miss Chester's Candy Store, which was just down the road from Great Aunt DeeDee. Aunt DeeDee would meet us there in her old, rusted teal LeSabre and give us the biggest, sweetest hugs. Us kids would run around the candy store, grabbing handfuls of every sweet confection our hearts desire and stuff them in plastic bags.
we left that store with sacks of candy slung over our shoulders like santa on christmas. then we'd all pile into Aunt Kim's van to drive up in the mountains and play with DeeDee's dog. my favorite memory is eating these IBC Root Beer Barrels, petting little Lightning and staring at the stars and listening to the locusts chirping in the middle of the night.
has anyone else had these candies? they are some of the most delicious things i have ever had and i recommend them strongly to anyone who enjoys wonderful memories and sweet nights in the mountains, at the foot of the smokies.

I've found that the best way to overcome grief is to talk about it in a welcoming environment. Reid, this is an open forum in which we can share our feelings through the format of internet messaging. If you have not yet advanced past the "anger" stage of grief, then I would suggest starting a thread to air your innermost thoughts on the matter.
However, I would like to politely steer the topic of conversation back to Root Beer Barrels. This is an appreciation thread, so I humbly request all subsequent comments to relate to the topic accordingly.

I think the internet is repeating itself again,
I swear I've read this thread once before.
theres a lot of that going around right now. perhaps we have simply RMed for too long, and have read every conceivable thread that could ever exist. its all just repeats now, like watching a tv show in syndication.

i want an actual old school looking barrel filled with root beer that was chilled all the time. That would be cool.
i have a way to get you this. no kidding. one of my ex-co-workers now works at the A&W plant in Carrolton, Georgia. there is an 'historical division' of the plant that makes barrels, retro glass bottles, and assorted aged-looking memorabilia. there was a limited run of root beer in different containers, including glass bottles, plastic jugs, frozen popsicle form, and ... barrels! there is still a few left but my buddy is able to pull some strings and get some kick-ass christmas gifts. santa might be good to you this year
